2471: BENDING JIG FOR ALEX JACKSON COUPLINGS

From Palatine Models to the design of Graham Turner.

This jig allows the modeller accurately to form the bends and angles necessary to make an Alex Jackson Coupling. To download instructions for this jig click here.

To complete the jig it is necessary to have approximately 40mm of 0.6mm diameter wire and approximately 50mm of 11 thou guitar string; 2 12BA nuts and bolts are needed to assist during assembly. A version of the jig which includes these accessories is available as MJT 2472. In addition the modeller may need the 180 Degree jig which is also available as MJT 2473.

A Combined Bending Package including both jigs is available as MJT 2478. 0.28 mm (11 thou) guitar string wire to form the couplings and 1mm soft iron wire to form the magnetic dropper are available as MJT 2476 and 2477. A starter kit with everything necessary to form Alex Jackson Couplings for coach bogies is available as MJT 2479.

Included on the etch is a jig for fitting the magnetic dropper for an Alex Jackson coupling. This jig is designed to P4 standards. With some adaptation it can be used for EM gauge and with more severe adaptation for OO.

(OO Gauge / 4mm Scale)

Information about the Alex Jackson Coupling can be found from various sources, notably the book Alex Jackson The Man And The Coupling, by Dave Booth and others and published by the Scalefour Society . Considerable detail is available from the Manchester Model Railway Society by clicking here.
