2866: LNER 61FT 6INCH FULL BRAKE (D113/D245) 1929-1943

This range of etched sides can be used with other parts from the MJT range to create a metal model of a Gresley teak bodied coach. Alternatively they can be used as the basis of a scratch built model or to adapt a suitable donor vehicle (see for example Model Rail February 2006 - Done in a Trice). The sides are 'multi layered' allowing detail such as beading to be represented accurately. Cast door ventilator hoods, etched hinges and handles are supplied with the sides. Vehicles can be made to complement other proprietary offerings so that authentic express formations can be modelled. The instructions give details of build dates, livery, numbering, etc. These vehicles were built between 1930 and 1943 and featured both turnbuckle and angle iron trussing. The D245s were fitted as pigeon carriers and two D113 as cinema coaches. Earlier batches were built with the GNR Fox bogie while later ones rode on the Gresley 8ft Heavy Duty bogie. Some survived into the 'BR Blue' era. Later in their lives full brakes could be found on Gresley standard 8ft 6in bogies, probably as a result of retro fitting.

To make a complete coach the modeller should consider:
MJT 2832 Underframe, MJT 2800T or MJT 2800A Underframe Detailing Kit, MJT 2831 Coach Ends, MJT 2871 Roof, MJT 2940 Roof Ventilators, MJT 2813 Domed Roof Ends, MJT 2820 Working Gangways, MJT 2416 GNR / LNER Fox Bogies, MJT 2414 Gresley 8ft Bogies or MJT 2411 or MJT 2411A Gresley Standard Bogies and MJT 7031 8ft Bogie Step Boards or MJT 7030 8ft 6in Bogie Step Boards
